Malaria Epidemics Hit West Kenyan Refugee Camps
In the wake of January’s election-triggered violence in Kenya, tens of thousands of Kenyans fled their homes and farms for outlying towns including Eldoret, Nakuru, and Kakameg, pitching tents in vast camps. Heavy rains started in April, and now the seas of tents are flooded and thousands of children are sick with malaria and diarrhea. A medical officer on the scene called the situation “inhuman.”
